Dipika Kakar Diagnosed with Stage 2 Liver Cancer, Undergoes 14-Hour Surgery

The most loved television couple, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, are in the news these days. People adore their chemistry and bonding a lot, but in recent weeks, they have seen a lot of emotional turmoil and shock. Dipika’s health deteriorated, and she found that she had cancer in her liver. The couple is now capturing the hearts of many as she recovers from a life-changing liver cancer surgery. This is a sign of hope, positivity and unconditional love.

A Diagnosis That Changed Everything

In May of 2025, Shoaib Ibrahim announced on his YouTube channel that Dipika Kakar had a tumour the size of a tennis ball in her liver. Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim said that the news last week was unfathomable for them and their fans. The tumour was confirmed to be malignant, which meant that Dipika had stage 2 liver cancer, something no one would ever have thought would happen.

Dipika made a heartfelt post in her vlog, recalling the moment when she and Shoaib first heard the word “malignant.” The couple broke down together in the hospital corridor, pulling each other tight as reality sunk in about the cancer, saying, “When I saw the reports myself, I understood that it’s not okay. That moment, uss corridor mein khade rehkar we both broke down, and Shoaib also broke down. Sabse pehle jab aapko ye shabdh pata chalta hai ke malignant hai or cancer hai, it creates fear in your mind. I just broke down and I hugged Shoaib tight.“

An Exhausting Surgery and Emotional Turmoil

The surgery was a 14-hour-long one in Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai. Such a long and complex operation has left her emotionally and physically drained. She was very exhausted after the surgery was completed. Dipika was admitted to the hospital for 12 days and was away from her family. She missed her son Ruhaan during the whole process, as she couldn’t meet him for a very long time. The most heartbreaking moment for her was to stop breastfeeding her son for her treatment.

Shohaib came as a support system for his wife as well as his family. He alone handled all the problems and made sure that Dipika’s treatment was successful. Shohaib told the media that those days were some of the hardest of his life, especially the four days Dipika spent in the ICU. He still maintains the calmness in the atmosphere despite being the most fear.

The Power of Support and Prayers

God indeed watches you. If you are doing good deeds in your life, they will be returned to you for sure. Every family member, friend, fan and more were praying thoroughly for Dipika’s recovery. She expressed deep gratitude for the countless prayers and pujas and messages of support she received. Dipika shared her emotions and said, “Some of you did namaz for me, some of you performed special pujas for me, all this is very special for me. And trust me, when I was in the ICU, Shoaib would inform me that a lot of people are praying for me, and it would make me emotional.”

It was Shohaib who was consistently informing their fans through vlogs and short videos, updating them about Dipi’s health. He shared everything, the difficulties, happiness, hope, and small victories. This is what is most loved by their fans, that this couple never have any filter, they are very transparent with them and make them a part of their family. 

All Positive and Enjoying Small Moments

The vlogs on their YouTube channel depict everything about their life. Despite the seriousness of this surgery, the couple was all relaxed and positive. They shared some of the fun moments in one of the blogs. It showed when Dipika and Shoaib were going to the doctor for a checkup, he was continuously joking about something to which Dipika couldn’t handle and laughed so much. The video showed the amount of optimism and strength to fight back against the cancer. Shoaib captioned the video, “Doctor visit haste haste.”

Hope of Healing

Even though Dipika has returned home and is getting better, this path is far from finished.  However, she will require continuing care and routine examinations; the most important aspect—the tumour’s removal—is now behind her.  Shoaib is nevertheless cheerful, describing Dipika as a “strong lady” who will face any challenge for the benefit of their son and family.

 Even while Dipika admitted that she still has a long way to go, she is resolved to meet every obstacle head-on.  In addition to increasing awareness about liver cancer, the couple’s choice to publicly discuss their experience has demonstrated the healing potential of love, faith, and community.
